Keep reading and you will find out.

How to eat raw noodles

One day, when I was grade 4, my friend Shinichi and I were playing video games at his house.

Shinichi and I went to the kitchen. He grabbed a package of instant noodles from the cupboard.

He crushed the noodles by punching the package, and opened it.

After putting seasoning into the bag, he shook the bag.

He said, "It's yummy, you should try it!"

I ate it and I liked it.

I felt like I was doing something bad, because I thought you were supposed to boil the noodles first.

These raw instant noodle had a junky and cheap taste, but 9-year old me thought it was pretty good.

And oddly enough, this was a popular snack amongst my friends.

Here is how to eat raw instant noodles...

1. Crush the noodles

Before opening the package, make a fist and crush the noodles.

If you like larger pieces, then just punch three times.

2. Open the bag.

3. Take out the soup packet.

4. Sprinkle the contents of the soup packet into the bag of noodles.

Note: Do not put everything in, as it will be too salty.

5. Close the bag and shake it.

You can coat the noodle pieces with the seasoning by shaking thoroughly.

6. Just eat it by hand.

It tastes like a snack called Baby Star Ramen.

Have you ever eaten it? This snack is quite popular in Japan.

What situation is suitable for eating raw instant noodles?

It might be good for emergency situations like earthquake, hurricane, and flood when you don’t have access to hot water.

You can eat raw instant noodles as emergency food or snack.

But don't use too much soup packet. It will be too salty and you will get thirsty quickly.

    Hi Madison!
Thanks for reading my article and leaving a comment!
If I’m craving a bit more sodium, I’ll use the whole packet too! I find the whole packet a little salty for some brands but manageable for others, so it depends on your preferences too!

I added the whole packet and liked it but I also like way too much salt

    Hi Karen,

    Thanks for your comment!
For instant noodles, around 80 to 95 % of the calorie from the package is from the noodles and the remaining 5 to 20 % of the calories is from the soup packet.

For example, if one serving of instant noodles has 500 kcal, 450 kcal is from the noodles and 50 kcal is from the soup packet.

In the article below, I give a more in depth explanation about ramen calories. I hope you find it useful – check it out!

During the last couple of months, there were days when I would eat up to 6 bags of uncooked ramen noodles and nothing else. Within a month, I gained 10 unwanted lbs, and that was the only thing I could attribute it to. Is that probably why ? I have stopped eating them now, as they are like potato chips to me, can’t eat just 1. How many calories are in 1 bag without the seasoning packet ? Thank you for reading.
